Consistently inconsistent.

On Sunday. West Ham vs. Arsenal. Deep into injury time. VAR proved why it’s a load of shite. Why it’s not fit for purpose. Why it’s killing the game. A five minute delay to determine whether a foul had been committed on David Raya. FIVE minutes. For the avoidance of doubt, probably was a foul. That’s not admin’s issue, here. Just wanna make that clear before Arsenal lot are in the comments complaining. Spouting “rent free” and “salty” nonsense, as is the norm.

The issue i’ve got, right. Is if somet’ takes five minutes. Twenty replays. Multiple angles. Slow motion. And the goths at Stockley Park are looking at it frame by frame. Then it’s probably not clear and obvious, is it? There’s absolutely no need for ‘em to be involved. Go stick kettle on. Have a smoke. A shite. Whatever. Just let the referee crack on. Ya getting paid regardless of whether you intervene or not. Well, I think they are. Probably got bored, to be fair.

Then there’s consistency. Or the lack of it. Arsenal have been at it all season. Blocking the keeper. Holding defenders. Tony Pulis. Robert Huth. Kenwyne Jones. All bursting with pride. They walked so this lot could run. If ya ruling one out, rule ‘em all out. It should’ve been nipped in’t bud early doors. Gotta be consistent. Can’t change the rules, the threshold, with two games to go. Other teams have been at it too, so it’s not just Arsenal. Although, they’ve been the main suspects. Let’s not pretend they haven’t. I wouldn’t even be annoyed at that if i were an Arsenal fan. I’d be buzzing. Giving it big’uns. If you can get away with it, fair play.

From that one corner alone there’s at least five more fouls in the area that should’ve been looked at before Raya had his chin tickled. Declan Rice rugby tackling Mavropanis being the main ‘un. Criminal. Fuck VAR off. Leave it to the man int’ middle. To human error. Let the game flow freely. It’s lost its soul. Its excitement. It’s all a bit boring now, unfortunately.

Quite poetic/ironic'/whatever, though, that this is how Arsenal are gonna win the title. The season refs turned a blind eye to wrestling at corners decided by a foul at a corner. Fair play. I’d be celebrating with a DDT or Stone Cold Stunner next time I score if i’m Saka or Rice. Be good craic that. Into ‘em.
